Penguins Beat Lighting For Their Third Straight Win

Jussi Jokinen had a great game against the Lighting on Thursday night as he scored two goals and had one assist in what it was a 6-3 victory of the Penguins against Tampa Bay. Pascal Dupuis, Tanner Glass, Chris Kunitz and Evgeni Malkin scored the other goals for Pittsburgh, the team that currently leads the Eastern Conference.

On the minds of Pittsburgh’s players, they have just the right team to accomplish great things during the current season, and most think in a positive way about what’s next, including Jokinen, who mentioned that  “Obviously, we have a really good team and we’re missing a couple of key players. We have some depth on this team as well, and that’s what you need when you go to the playoffs.”

The Penguins are currently 31-10 and they won 15 straight games during March, which makes of them one of the clear favorites to win the Stanley Cup this year and they will doubtless turn even more dangerous when they get Sidney Crosby and James Neal back from injuries.

After two periods Pittsburgh was just ahead of the Lighting by a single goal, but the third period was the most decisive as the visitors scored 3 goals and sealed the victory. This is the third win in a row for the Penguins and the team will have a day of rest before they visit Sunrise, Florida for a game against the Panthers on Saturday.

Budaj Stopped 14 Shots And Montreal Beat Sabres

The Canadiens clinched a playoff spot on Thursday night thanks to a convincing 5-1 victory over the Sabres on Thursday night. Peter Budaj was the clear hero of the Montreal team as he stopped fourteen shots while teammates Andrei Markov and PK Subban had one goal and one assist apiece.

The win was the seventh straight for Budaj, who signed a contract extension worth $2.8 million just a day before this game. The goaltender felt that his team did a great job against the Sabres and on this he mentioned that “We outshot them. We outplayed them. I don’t want to take anything away from Buffalo, but we played a much better game.”

Montreal’s hockey fans are having a blast this season as this is the first time since 1978-79 that their team is able to win 26 out of 40 games. Indeed, if the Canadiens want to make it to the title game, there is no better time than now to do it.

Will The Eagles Keep Their Pick Or Will They Trade It

The Eagles have many positions to fill in their roster and they need the right kind of players, so, considering that they have the fourth overall pick at the upcoming NFL Draft, the team must think about what to do with it: either 1. keep it, or 2. trade it down in order to get more picks.

Since the team’s situations is not the best in terms of the talent they have available, if they decide to keep the 4th pick, the player they select will have to be really good.

If they decide to trade the pick for more selections, they better hope that the player that gets selected with the fourth pick doesn’t turn into an elite player while they just got a couple of average players in return.

This year the quality of the players available in the draft is high, and Philadelphia keep their pick, they might have the option of selecting talented athletes such as Geno Smith or Eric Fisher. Smith has what it takes to become a top quarterback in the league but Fisher is an even more sought-after player and is probably one of the best young offensive tackles to become available in the draft in years. The Eagles know that if they trade their picks and Fisher develops into a superstar, it is likely that such decision might end up hurting their reputation for years to come.

General Manager Howie Roseman certainly has a lot to think about and many options to consider before he actually comments on what is it exactly that the team is going to do with their high NFL Draft pick. As Roseman said himself, “you don’t want a pick as high as No. 4, but when you get it, you better take advantage of it.”

Green Bay Is The Right Place For Tebow

Jets fans know that Tim Tebow will no longer be part of their team in a little while and although there’s been some speculation about the future home of the famous quarterback, the truth is that he will most likely not get a starting job at any team at the NFL. So, when you consider what franchise is willing to give Tebow a second-string position, it seems that Green Bay is the right place for the player right now.

No quarterback wants the backup to be more famous than they are and that will certainly not be a problem if Tebow signs with the Packers as starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers is a local hero and it is unrealistic to believe that the former Bronco is going to beat Rodgers in a popularity competition in Green Bay.

NBA: Hawks Crush 76ers

The Atlanta Hawks were able to reassure why they are currently one of the top teams of their division almost with a solid spot in the upcoming playoffs this last Wednesday, April 10^th, at the Wells Fargo Center in Pennsylvania. In this case the Hawks were able to crush the Philadelphia 76ers with a solid 124-101 away victory.

It was thanks to Josh Smith that the Hawks were able to rise with a victory. In this case Smith was able to finish the match with 28 points, 4 assists, and 12 rebounds. Yet, more important, the Hawks were able to shut down a 3-game losing streak which had kept haunting the squad for the last week. Currently the Hawks are tied with the Chicago Bulls for the 5^th spot of the Eastern conference. Still, the Hawks continue to march in a steady pace towards the playoffs as the No. 2 seed of the Southeast division with a 43-36 record.

Philadelphia was led by forward Thaddeus Young who was able to finish the match with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Still, the 76ers were simply incapable of protecting their home advantage. Philly currently stands with a 31-47 record and as the No. 4 seed of the Atlantic division.

The Hawks will now prepare to face the Milwaukee Bucks at the Phillips Arena this coming Friday, April 12^th, while the 76ers will now prepare to visit the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center that same night.

NBA: Heat Outshines Wizards

The Miami Heat continues to fire up the previews to the playoffs by adding more victories to its personal account record. In this case the Heat was able to pull a solid away victory at the Verizon Center in DC this last Wednesday, April 10^th. The Heat once again was able to shine over the Washington Wizards with a slight 103-98 away win.

Yet the Heat is simply unstoppable. Last night Miami was able to break two season records and pull a significant playoff advantage in the less 4-quarters. In this case the Miami squad was able to break the franchise’s record for the most wins in one season, the most 3-pointers scored in one match, and was able to nail the home advantage for the playoffs. The Heat’s b-squad was able to nail 41 3-pointers to pull Miami’s 62^nd victory of the season to assure the leadership of the Southeast division.

Washington was simply incapable of sustaining a strong defensive strategy against the top squad in the Eastern conference. Despite being close to overturn the score, Washington fell to the Heat’s offensive power. Currently the Wizards stand in the 3^rd spot of the Southeast conference with a 29-50 record.

The Heat will now prepare to face the Boston Celtics at the American Airlines Arena this coming Friday, April 12^th, while the Wizards will now receive the Philadelphia 76ers at the Verizon Center that same night.

NBA:  Magic Enchants Bucks

The Orlando Magic was able to pull a solid home victory this last Wednesday, April 10^th, at the Amway Center in Florida. In this case the Magic was able to outshine the Milwaukee Bucks with a solid 113-103 home win.

The Magic was forced to push the game into OTs in order to pull a victory last night. Yet it was thanks to Tobias Harris, who finished the match with 30 points and 19 rebounds, and Nikola Vucevic, who also finished the match with 30 points and 20 rebounds, that the Magic was able to shine on their home court. With no virtual possibilities of sliding into the playoffs the Magic currently march in the 4^th spot of the Southeast division with a 20-59 record.

The Bucks were led by Monta Ellis who was able to sum an extra 21 points and 11 assists. Yet, it was still not enough to end the Bucks losing streak. Still, according to Ellis himself the team is currently trying its best to consolidate a solid squad for the next season. The Bucks currently stand in the 3^rd spot of the Central division with a 37-41 record.

The Magic will now prepare to face the Boston Celtics at the Amway Center this coming Saturday, April 13^th, while the Bucks will now prepare to visit the Atlanta Hawks at the Phillips Arena this coming Friday, April 12^th.

NBA: Nets Out-Shadow Celtics

The Brooklyn Nets were once again able to prove why they are currently just one step closer to re-assuring their spot in the upcoming 2012-13 NBA playoffs. In this case the Nets were able to out-shadow the Boston Celtics with a solid 101-93 away victory at the TD Garden in Massachusetts this last Wednesday, April 10^th.

In this case it was Deron Williams who led Brooklyn to their 46^th victory of the season. Williams was able to finish the match with 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 12 assists. The Nets are now one step closer to claim the 4^th spot of the Eastern conference as they continue to lead the Bulls with a 3 ½ game advantage which Chicago will most likely not surpass if Brooklyn continues this outstanding wining streak. So far the Nets march in the overall 2^nd spot of the Atlantic division with a 46-32 record.

Despite the loss, the Celtics still remain with the overall 7^th spot of the Eastern conference which could earn them their spot in the playoffs. As to yesterday’s game, Boston coach Doc Rivers claimed the Nets were simply on top of their game and that despite the Celtic’s home advantage the NY squad’s offense was simply unbearable and unstoppable. Currently the Celtics march in the 3^rd spot of the Atlantic division with a 40-38 record.

The Nets will now prepare to visit the Indiana Pacers at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse this coming Friday, April 12^th, while the Celtics will now prepare to face the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena this coming Saturday, April 13^th.

Bruins Beat Devils And Are First At The Northeast Division

The Bruins continue to escalate positions at the Eastern Conference thanks to a 5-4 victory over the Devils and now are second and only 4 points behind Pittsburgh, whom have played an extra match. The game was quite intensive during the first as Gregory Campbell scored 2 of Boston’s 3 goals during that period. New Jersey tried to level things up with 2 goals during the second and the third periods but two extra goals by the Bruins gave the visitors the win.

Boston is also first at the Northeast division and is one point ahead of the Canadiens with 9 games to play. Coach Claude Julien was satisfied with the result against the Devils but he still feels that the team can do much better and on this he mentioned that “It’s certainly nice to be there, in first place. That was a little bit of motivation tonight. That’s not to say we played a great game, but we accomplished a goal.”

On the other hand, New Jersey is certainly not performing at the expected level for a team that played for the Stanley Cup last year and they still need four more points if they want to make it to the postseason this time.

Eagles Acquired Emmanuel Acho From Cleveland

The Eagles had been trying to get a deal for Dion Lewis and on Thursday they traded the running back to the Browns for linebacker Emmanuel Acho, who spent most of last season on the injured list after suffering a leg injury. Acho is doing much better now and he will most likely be ready to start next season. The coaching team expects the player to provide some depth to the Eagles inside LB’s and to also help with especial teams.

Judge Sentenced New England Player To 30 Days In Jail

On Thursday a judge sentenced Alfonzo Dennard to 30 days in jail for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. The Patriots player will also get 24 months of probation and one hundred hours of community service. Some believe that Dennard was actually lucky as he was facing a maximum of  6 years in jail, but since he will be locked behind bars for just a month, he will be able to start with New England next season. The player was arrested on April 21st outside a bar in Lincoln Nebraska after an altercation with another person.

Gunner Kiel Will Play For the Bearcats

The Bearcats will be missing two of their quarterbacks after the 2013 season but they are not worried about that because Gunner Kiel, the number one high school quarterback prospect of a year ago is leaving Notre Dame and will be joining them after the upcoming season as he’s coming to Cincinnati as a transfer and will need to sit until he becomes eligible to play for UC in 2014.

Apparently Kiel is eager to be part of the Bearcats as he mentioned that “The group of guys I’m going to be around is second to none. I love where Cincinnati is heading and the future is bright.”

The player enrolled with the Irish but then he had a sudden change of heart and it seems that all he wants is to play for Cincinnati. Kiel is close to the Bearcats’ coach Darin Hinshaw and apparently that is one of the major reasons why he decided that he wanted to play for Cincinnati instead of Notre Dame. On this, Kip Kiel, the father of the player mentioned that “The visit to Cincinnati went really well. He thinks the world of coach Hinshaw and coach Gran.”

Seahawks’ Sherman Says Adderall Usage is Common Amongst NFL Players

CB Richard Sherman has been creating a lot of controversy lately with some comments he made as they can actually hurt the credibility of many professional athletes. The Seahawks player mentioned this week that he believes that probably half of the players in the NFL utilize Adderall, a league-banned substance, on a daily basis.

Sherman is of the opinion that if so many players are doing it, there is not a better solution for the NFL than simply allow the usage of the prohibited drug and on this he mentioned that “About half the league takes Adderall and the league has to allow it.”

Some believe that the comments made by Sherman are not exactly right as they believe that the player just want to create controversy around others in order to avoid attracting attention to himself as he was suspended for four games last season for the usage of the aforementioned stimulant.

Sherman believes that the league acted with injustice concerning his personal situation and on this he mentioned that “The league made a mistake in my case. Obviously, I didn’t do anything, but you have to go through a process to prove you didn’t do anything. There are still naysayers out there who don’t believe me. But I accept it. If everybody loves you, it probably means you’re not much of a player.”

NBA: Knicks Outshine Wizards

The Knicks were able to ratify why they are currently among the top-3 teams of the current 2012-13 NBA season this last Tuesday, April 9^th, at Madison Square Garden in NYC. In this case the Knicks were able to outshine the Washington Wizards with a crushing 120-99 home victory.

The Knicks currently lead the Atlantic division with a solid 51-26 record.

On the other hand, the Wizards are simply trying to leave one of their worst seasons in the past. Washington was led by John Wall who was able to finish the match with 33 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Still, the Wizards were simply incapable of matching up to one of the top teams in the Western conference. The Wizards remain in the 3^rd spot of the Southeast division with a 29-49 record.

The Knicks will now prepare to visit the Chicago Bulls at the United Center this coming Thursday, April 11^th, while the Wizards will now prepare to face the Miami Heat at the Verizon Center this Wednesday, April 10^th.

The Miami Heat was able to extend one of the best records in the history of the franchise this last Tuesday, April 9^th, at the American Airlines Arena in Florida. In this case the Heat was able to outshine the Milwaukee Bucks with a solid 94-83 home victory.

Once again it was thanks to King LeBron James that Miami was able to pull its 61^st victory of the season this last Tuesday. James was able to finish the match with 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. According to Miami coach Erik Spoelstra his team is simply on a streak which has not yet been broken. Miami is currently one step closer to gain the home court advantage during the playoffs. The Heat continues to lead the Southeast division with a solid 61- 16 record.

Milwaukee attempted to deliver a fast comeback to fight for a spot in the playoffs, yet they were shut down by an unbearable Heat down in Miami. The Bucks were led by point guard Brandon Jennings who finished the match with 30 points and 3 rebounds. Still, Milwaukee remains in the 3^rd spot of the Central division with a 37-40 record.

The Heat will now prepare to visit the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center this Wednesday, April 10^th, while the Bucks will now face the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center this same night.

NBA:  Pacers Outlast Cavaliers

According to Hill the Cavs were simply right after the Pacer’s defense and were able to surpass Indiana’s strategies in key moments throughout the match. Kyrie Irving was able to lead the Cavs with 29 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists. Still, Cleveland remains in the 5^th spot f the Central division.

The Pacers will now prepare to face the Brooklyn Nets at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse this coming Friday, April 12^th, while the Kings will now prepare to receive the Detroit Pistons at the Quicken Loans Arena this Wednesday, April 10^th.

NBA: Nets Crush 76ers

The Brooklyn Nets were once again able to prove why they’ve overcome a series of unsuccessful seasons to once again claim an important appearance spot in the playoffs this last Tuesday, April 9^th, at the Barclays Center in New York. In this case the Nets crushed the Philadelphia 76ers with a 104-83 home victory.

Once again it was thanks to Brook Lopez, who finished the match with 29 point and 11 rebounds, that the Nets were able to shine in NYC. In this case the Nets have not only assured themselves a spot in the playoffs, but continue to hold on to the 4^th overall spot of the Eastern conference. Currently the Nets stand in the 2^nd spot of the Atlantic division with a solid 45-32 record right behind their NY rivals, the Knicks.

The 76ers were simply incapable of sustaining an unstoppable Brooklyn offense. Once again the 76ers continue to face defensive difficulties and the team continues to prove that they are incapable of sustaining a consistent level of performance throughout the four quarters. Philadelphia currently stands in the 4^th spot of the Atlantic division with a 31-46 record.

The Nets will now prepare to visit the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden this Wednesday, April 10^th, while the 76ers will now prepare to face the Atlanta Hawks at the Wells Fargo Center this Wednesday, April 10^th.
