NBA: Wizards Enchant Raptors

The Washington Wizards were able to obtain their 18^th victory of the season this last Monday, February 25^th, at the Air Canada Centre in Ontario. In this case the Wizards were able to pull a 90-84 away win over the Toronto Raptors.

The Wizards were led by Bradley Beal who was able to finish the match with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Martell Webster was able to also sum an extra 12 points and 3 rebounds, followed by Raymond Felton with the same amount of points and 3 assists, and Nene with 11 points and 9 rebounds. The Wizards currently stand in the 3^rd spot of the Southeast division with an 18-37 record.

The Raptors were led by DeMar DeRozan who was able to finish the match with 25 points and 4 rebounds. Kyle Lowry was able to add an extra 18 points and 3 assists, followed by John Lucas with 9 points and 3 assists, and Andrea Bargnani with 8 points and 3 rebounds. The Denver Nuggets were able to obtain a solid victory this last Monday, February 25^th, at the Pepsi Center in Colorado. In this case the Nuggets were able to exceed the Los Angeles Lakers with a 119-108 home win.

The Nuggets were led by Wilson Chandler who was able to finish the match with 23 points and 4 rebounds. Ty Lawson was able to add an extra 14 points and 12 assists, followed by Corey Brewer with 16 points and 2 rebounds, and Andre Iguodala with 14 points and 12 assists. The Nuggets currently stand in the 2^nd spot of the Northwest division with a 36-22 record.

The Lakers were led by Kobe Bryant who was able to finish the match with an outstanding 29 points and 9 assists. Steve Nash was able to sum an extra 16 points and 5 assists, followed by Dwight Howard with 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Metta World Peace also with 15 points and 2 rebounds. The Lakers currently stand in the 3^rd place of the Pacific division with an almost even 28-20 record.

If you are a fan of mixed martial arts, you must be thrilled about the news concerning Jose Aldo finally accepting to fight Anthony Pettis. Tigers Beat Crimson Tide After 3 Overtimes

A really intense game was played between the Tigers and Alabama as it took LSU 3 overtimes to finally defeat the Crimson Tide 97-94. The victory was even more impressive because the Tigers managed to overcome a 10-point deficit almost at the end of regulation time and then the team was able to hold on for 3 OT’s until finally coming up with the win.

LSU coach Johnny Jones was quite proud of his team as he mentioned that their effort somewhat rivaled a great performance by the 78’ Tigers, whom defeated Kentucky in overtime despite not counting with any of the team’s five starters. “It wasn’t five guys fouling out, but going three overtimes after being down by 10 with less than three minutes or so to play … I thought it somewhat rivaled that.” Jones said.

Brady Re-Signs With Patriots And Sacrifices Cash For The Chance Of One More Ring

Tom Brady is now 35 and he will be with the Patriots until he’s 38 as he just signed a contract extension with New England for 3 years. Sam Montgomery is being projected by various mock drafts as a first-round pick, but some comments he made during an NFL scout combine might actually end up hurting his stock as he admitted that he used to take entire games off.

During the interview, the player mentioned that “You know, some weeks when we didn’t have to play the harder teams, there were some times when effort was not needed.” Montgomery was probably talking about how good a team the LSU Tigers was since they didn’t needed their best players at times, but he probably didn’t realized that for some such words are those of a lazy prospect.

After Montgomery made the comments, he apparently figured out that he had made a mistake and said that he is well aware of how different the NFL is from the NCAA, “There are no small teams, small divisions. It is all Alabamas and LSUs every week at the NFL. It’s definitely something I have to get adjusted to, but I’m sure with the right coaching I will be fine.” He said.

UFC 157: Rousey Defeated Carmouche And Other Results

UFC 157 took place this past weekend and it was Ronda Rousey who took the glory after defeating Liz Carmouche in the first round of their Bantamweight fight. This is the first time that a women’s bout headlines a UFC event and because it was so successful it will certainly not be the last one.

One of the most interesting fights was part of the preliminary card as it was clear that both Dennis Bermudez and Matt Grice fought with their hearts and at the end it was Bermudez who took the victory after 3 rounds. UFC officials determined that both fighters put up an outstanding show and because of that each took a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus.

The main card was comprised of 5 fights that also included the victory of Lyoto Machida over Dan Henderson, the win of Urijah Faber over Ivan Menjivar and the victory of Court McGee over Josh Neer.

Jimmy Johnson Wins Daytona 500

Although Jimmy Johnson led only seventeen out of two hundred laps, he was out front when it really mattered: the final ten laps, and that allowed the experienced pilot to acquire his second Daytona 500 win on Sunday (he acquired his first victory back in 2006).

Dale Earnhardt Jr finished the premier race as the runner-up; the same position he has acquired in three out of the last four races. 14 different cars took the lead at various times, including the one driven by Danica Patrick, who was third with 2 laps to go, but who fell to the eight position at the end.

The current Daytona 500 champ, Brad Keselowski had the chance of getting the win for a second straight time, but Johnson managed to take the lead from him during the last restart. Keselowskis car wasn’t in the best of conditions as it had taken part in an earlier wreck during the race but he still managed to finish fourth. On losing to his teammate, Earnhardt mentioned that “I kind of ran out of steam, didn’t have enough to get a run on Jimmie.”

The Miami Heat was able to obtain its 40th victory of the season this last Sunday, February 24th, at the American Airlines Arena in Florida. In this case the Heat was able to pull a 109-105 away win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Heat was led by King LeBron James who was able to finish the match with 28 points and 8 assists. Dwyane Wade was able to add an extra 24 points and 6 assists, followed by Mario Chalmers with 16 points and 3 rebounds, and Shane Battier with 14 points and 2 assists. Miami currently leads Southeast division with a 40-14 record.

The Cavaliers were led by Dion Waiters who was able to finish the match with 26 points and 3 assists. C.J. Milies was able to sum an extra 19 points and 2 rebounds, followed by Kyrie Irving with 17 points and 5 assists, and Tristan Thompson with 11 points and 12 rebounds. James Records Triple-Double And The Heat Defeated The 76ers In Philly

The Heat managed to win their tenth straight game after defeating the Sixers 114-90 at Wells Fargo Center. Lebron James finished with a triple-double: 16 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists while Dwyane Wade was the top scorer for the team with 33 and Mario Chalmers was third with 14. For the home team Jrue Holiday had 21, Nick Young scored 19 and Evan Turner finished with 16.

This was the 35th triple-double for James, and he’s now second to Jason Kidd, who has 107 triple-doubles. Third in the list is Grant Hill with 29 and Kobe Bryant and Rajon Rondo are fourth and fifth respectively with 18 apiece.

The game was a sold-out in what it was going to be a combined NBA-NHL event during the same night but despite having the support of their fans, the Sixers have been disappointing this current season as they are currently 22-31 and have lost four in a row.

When it comes to the Heat, its players feel that they are more a team now than last year, and on this Chris Bosh mentioned that “Everyone is coming together as a team and we feel comfortable with each other. I think we’re starting to play like we know we’re capable of playing. I think if we keep playing at this type of level, the sky is the limit for us.”

Te’o Is Projected To Be a First-Round Pick Despite Media Circus

Manti Te’o is going to be part of the upcoming NFL draft and he’s expected to be selected during the first round despite the media circus concerning a hoax involving him. Although NFL free agency starts in March, Brian Urlacher is already an unrestricted free agent and fans of the Bears want some answers concerning the veteran linebacker, who has spent more than a decade with the team from Chicago.
