Watson sent game to OT, Bulls defeat Heat
The Heat was ahead in the score 84-81 against the Bulls with just 2.2 seconds left in the clock, but then CJ Watson scored the tying 3-pointer and sent game to overtime, allowing Chicago to defeat the Heat 96-86. Watson finished with 16 points while teammate Carlos Boozer had 19 and Kyle Korver scored 17. Derrick Rose was back in the court for the Bulls, but it was clear that he’s still not ready to play as usual as he finished with a career-low 2 points.
Rose played just a few minutes, and on benching the reigning MVP, Coach Tom Thibodeau mentioned that “Big picture, in terms of, if this were his first or second year, maybe you would be more concerned with that. But where Derrick is now as a player, he knows, he understands the situation. He’s coming off an injury; he’s a very confident guy. He’ll get up to speed very quickly.”
Mavs defeat Warriors at Golden State
With 27 points from Dirk Nowitzki and 16 apiece from Jason Terry and Brandan Wright, the Mavericks defeated the Warriors by 112-103 in another really tight match for the defending NBA champions. Dallas is trying to regain the rhythm that gave the team the title last year, but they still need to get a playoffs ticket, which is something that is not possible for Golden State anymore after losing 3 straight crucial games.
The Mavs knows that they can’t afford to lose games if they want a second consecutive championship, and on this goal, Dallas forward Shawn Marion (who finished with seven points against the Warriors) mentioned that “It’s a race to the finish line,” said Mavericks forward Shawn Marion, who scored 7 points. “Every game counts here on out.”
Clippers outlasts Twolves
Can this be the year the Clippers get their first NBA title? If they keep on playing as they did yesterday in their 95-82 victory over the Timberwolves (a team that has lost 8 straight games) that is certainly possible. Blake Griffin finished the match with 19 points and thirteen rebounds while Caron Butler scored seventeen for Los Angeles. The Clippers are now 15-14 playing in rival courts this year, and this can be the first time since they relocated to LA in 1984 that the franchise finishes with a winning record.
