Australian Open: Djokovic to face Murray
World number one Novak Djokovic managed to defeat David Ferrer from Spain and made it to the semi finals of the Australian Open. Knicks defeat Charlotte by large margin
The Knicks defeated the Bobcats by 111-78 in a game where Carmelo Anthony scored just one point, but where Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudemire played their best games in a while, scoring 20 and 17 rebounds and 18 points and eight rebounds respectively. On his poor performance due to injuries, Anthony mentioned that “I needed a night like this, where I didn’t have to do too much and we still won the game by a lot. We just had it going. Everybody had it going. I needed a night like this when I score one point and we win by 20. We all got tired of losing.’’
Goodell receives contract extension
Roger Goodell was hired in replacement of Paul Tagliabue back in 2006 as league commissioner. He received an extension of 5 years on his contract in 2009, and it was just recently announced that the NFL has approved a new extension until 2018. Goodell, who is currently 52 years old, calls the league “the only place I have ever wanted to work.” He has worked for the NFL since 1983.
Love re-signs with Wolves
Another one who received a contract extension was Kevin Love, who reached a deal with the Timberwolves for 4 years worth $60 million, including a player option during the last year, meaning that he’ll have the option of becoming a free agent in 2015, all depending on how Minnesota (whom are currently last in the Northwest Division) are doing at that time in terms of consistency and achievements.
Allen named head coach for Oakland
The good work he performed at Denver certainly paid off for Dennis Allen, as the former defensive coordinator for the Broncos was just named the head coach for the Raiders. Allen had spent just a year with Denver and was with the New Orleans Saints prior to that.
