Marian Hossa Finally Released From The Hospital
Marian Hossa, the Blackhawks forward, was brought to the hospital on a stretcher and hospitalized after Raffi Torres of Phoenix hit him during the first period of Chicago’s game 3 of their playoff series against the Coyotes on Tuesday, but the player was already released from the hospital.
It is expected that he will fully recover but there is as yet no news as to when he will return. The team’s physician Dr Michael Terry announced that the test taken at the hospital had been encouraging, in a statement made by the Blackhawks after Chicago’s overtime loss 3-2. “Hossa has been released from the hospital and is now being closely monitored at home,” also declared the physician.
Torres, who was not penalized, had run-ins before with the Blackhawks while with Vancouver; he is facing a hearing with the NHL, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Torres delivered a heavy hit to Brent Seabrook in the game 3 of the first round-series last season. On running into Hossa he said: “ First of all, I really hope that he is alright, however, as far as it goes, I just felt like I was playing Hockey. I was just trying to finish my hit, out there. Now I just hope that Hossa is ok.”
Chicago coach Joel Quenneville however sees the whole thing from a different eye: “This was a very brutal hit. I saw it all happening as it took place right in front of me. I don’t know how four guys missed it; it was hard. The refereeing tonight was a total disgrace!”
Manning, Broncos to open against Steelers
Fans will finally see Peyton Manning wearing the Broncos uniform in his first game as Denver’s Quarterback.
Peyton Manning’s first game as Denver’s Quarterback will be against the Steelers on the opening Sunday of the NFL season. The Colts let Peyton go after he missed the 2011 season due to a neck surgery. Manning had a lottery that involved four cities and eventually he landed in Denver.
John Elway says he is very excited about the way it all turned out to be: “We are so excited about all that, “he says, “When you have someone behind the center named Peyton Manning, you are for sure going to get a lot of attention.”
Manning will have a difficult job on his plate; playing against the Steelers, who were first in overall defense, is not going to be easy. This is an incredible way to start the season as pointed out by Art Rooney, the Steelers president: “This is going to be an exciting and emotional start, there is going to be a lot of attention paid to Peyton Manning as he plays his first game with the Denver Broncos, it is a great way to start.”\
