Patriots and Giants to meet again at Super Bowl

Four years after losing the opportunity of a perfect 19-0 season due to their loss to the Giants at Super Bowl XLII, Tom Brady and the Patriots have the chance of getting their revenge at Super Bowl XLVI thanks to their 23-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, which gave New England the AFC Championship. The Giants are arriving to the February 5th game at Lucas Oil Stadium after conquering the NFC title thanks to their 20-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Australian Open so far

Novak Djokovic defeated Lleyton Hewitt in 3 sets and got a ticket to the quarter finals of the Australian Open (The Serbian is now 5-1 against the Aussie tennis star and 3-1 in Grand Slams). Andy Murray also made it to the next round of this tourney thanks to his victory over Mikhail Kukushkin, who left the match against the Scottish on the third set as he suffered a hip injury.

Concerning women, Serena Williams fell in two sets against Ekaterina Makarova from Russia. The American blamed a sore left ankle for the loss, saying that “I’m not physically 100 percent, so I can’t be so angry at myself, even though I’m very unhappy. I know that I can play a hundred times better than I did this whole tournament.”

Newton invited to Pro Bowl

Even though the Panthers were not very impressive this season as a collective unit, their quarterback Cam Newton had an outstanding rookie year, and since Eli Manning will be busy getting ready for the Super Bowl, Newton was added to the NFC roster instead of the Giants player. The former member of the Auburn Tigers became the first in the history of the NFL to rush for 500 and throw for four thousand yards during the same season.

Indiana doing fabulous this season

The Pacers are one of the teams with the best records so far this season as they are 11-4. They recently acquired valuable road wins against the Lakers and the Warriors, and this week they will be tested again against important rivals such as the Magic and the Bulls. If Indiana manages to come up with victories over these two teams, they will become the leaders of their division.
