NBA: Chris Hansen Continues to Pursue Seattle Franchise

The Sacramento Kings debate was settled just a few weeks ago and after a firm voting assembly the franchise was set to remain in Northern California. Still, Chris Hansen announced that he’s not giving up on his attempts to bring basketball back to Seattle.

Hansen publicly congratulated Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson for his outstanding commitment regarding the Kings stay in the Capital of California. Still, Hansen announced that this has inspired him as well to pursue the establishment of a franchise in Seattle.

Hansen and his group, which includes Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, were ready to offer $625 million for the franchise and a total of $105 million for the rights to relocate. Still, the NBA Board of Governors in Dallas denied this request.

Despite the shady move made by Oklahoma by the Sonics in 2008, Hansen stated that the league is ready to reaccept and once again include Seattle as another basketball capital. Hansen stated that he will continue to maintain a close relation with the NBA to take advantage of the first opportunity that hits the league.

According to Hansen representatives, they will continue to push for the construction of a new Arena in Seattle that will hopefully motivate fans to continue striving and supporting the efforts made by Hansen and his colleagues.

NCAA: DePaul’s New Arena

It was an exciting announcement for the city of Chicago and especially for students at DePaul University who will soon enjoy from much more enhancing sports facilities. It was Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel who announced early this week that the construction for a new DePaul basketball arena will begin in early 2014.

Mayor Emanuel announced that the arena will hold 10,000-seats and that it will serve DePaul’s home basketball arena. According to several details provided this infrastructure renovation could cost Chicago approximately $173 million.

The new grounds would be located right across from McCormick Place which is one of the largest convention centers in the US. According to DePaul’s Athletic director Jean Lenti Ponsetto a new arena, with a much more strategic location, would most definitely arouse school spirit and will make life easier for staff and students that constantly run into problems at attending Allstate Arena.

According to Mayor Emanuel this could be considered as part of a $1.1 billion plan to embellish Chicago and promote the city as an ideal touristic destination. Still, constructions will not begin until DePaul issues a $70 million deposit as a sign of compromise with the construction of the Arena.

DePaul could most likely inaugurate their new arena for the 2016-17 NCAA Basketball season.

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to establish and reform their new squad for the 2013-14 NBA season with the hopes of bringing up the team to the level it had been characterized with for the last few seasons. Still, some of the most important players in the team remain uncertain about their continuation with the squad.

Once again Howard has not revealed any insights regarding his prolonged stay in Los Angeles. It’s been over three weeks and the former purple and gold star has not demonstrated, in any way or form, whether he still wishes to continue with the institution. This appears to be concerning to LA press and fans, yet Los Angeles Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak.

According to Kupchak he remains confident that Howard will stay in the squad, yet it’s a little offsetting when nothing is heard from the player at hand. According to NBA analysts Howard’s unwillingness to respond may come off as a result of the tension that exists between himself and Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni.

In less than six weeks Howard will become a free-agent and choices may arise. The Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks have showed their interest in acquiring the former Orlando Magic star. Howard could potentially sign a $118 million contract extension with the Lakers, yet everything will remain uncertain until the 27-year-old reveals what his ultimate wishes are.

NBA: Michael Jordan To Recover Charlotte Hornets

Former Charlotte Bobcats owner and former NBA superstar Michael Jordan may have just rolled out the ball to begin a franchise transformation. In this case the former Chicago Bulls star has clearly exposed his wishes to switch Charlotte’s name from Bobcats to Hornets

It’s definitely been a while since the Hornets apparition in Charlotte. It was from 1988 to 2022 that the Hornets resided in Charlotte, up until franchise owner George Shinn moved the entire team down to New Orleans.

Still, New Orleans has recently just switched its squad name to the Pelicans, leaving the Hornets available. What’s even more interesting is Michael Jordan’s insistence in establishing what the fans have to say regarding the change of the franchise. According to the NBA superstar fans position is still split, and thus the choice still remains simply as a mere option.

According to NBA deputy commissioner and COO Adam Silver switching the franchise’s name would take Charlotte about 18-months. Silver stated that if the Bobcats initiate the process soon, then they could become the Charlotte Hornets only as early as 2014, ready for the 2014-15 regular season.

Still, Jordan stated that it’s not only a tumultuous image change for the franchise and the fans, but also an expensive one which the team administration is still considering. NBA commissioners will hold a meeting soon in July and this may be become one of the most prominent topics for discussion.

NBA: Pacers-Heat Finals Steams

The rivalry between the two contenders of the Eastern Conference final continues to intensity pre-game forecasts which appear unclear at determining and thus establishing, unanimously, who will rise with the title.

It was LeBron James who responded to Pacers comments first. In this case the former NBA MVP stated that it was simply wrong for Indiana coach to label the Heat simply as just another team between the Pacers and the NBA championship title. According to King James the Heat is far from being just another team, and the proof to that is for the Pacers to ask themselves who left them on the road to the finals last season.

Last season the Pacers had a 2-1 lead of over Miami in the playoffs, right when the Heat was able to snatch three-consecutive victories after that to leave Indiana in the way. Indiana Coach Frank Vogel was also fined $15,000 for inappropriate comments, claiming that Miami was the biggest flopping team of the league.

Still, both times have reasons to be confident. The Heat was able to close the series against the Chicago Bulls in 5-matches, and the Pacers are just arriving from a solid victory over the New York Knicks.

The Eastern conference firnals will begin this coming Wednesday, May 22nd, at the American Airlines Arena in South Florida.

NBA: Coach K’s Return to USA Basketball Team

It appears that the United States Olympic men’s basketball team will once again be led by one of the most successful coaches that has ever taken the Dream team under its wing. In this case the US Olympic department announced that coach Mike Krzyzewski is pretty close to returning to the Olympic team.

The former Duke University coach had stated last year, after the leading the Olympic team to its 2nd consecutive gold medal during the 2012 London Olympics, that he would no longer appear in the bench of Team USA.

Still, according to USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo it seems that Coach K may have overstated his exit from the Olympic team. Colangelo claims that both parties have been engaging in talks for the last few weeks and that negotiations are moving in the right direction.

Still, Chairman Jerry stated that he had not previously considered too many candidates for the position. The Chairman admitted that he was in the process of scheduling appointments with Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers and San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

Still, nothing has been settled yet. He American Team is currently the strongest Basketball Olympic contender and according to polls the favorite one to take the 2016 Rio Olympics title.

Spurs Outlast Grizzlies, Stoudamire Returns To Arizona

NBA: Spurs Outlast Grizzlies

The San Antonio Spurs were able to strike first in the Western Conference finals with a solid victory this last Sunday, May 19th, at the AT&T Center in Texas. It was San Antonio who was able to crush the Memphis Grizzlies with a substantial 105-83 home win in game to take the lead.

The Spurs continue to demonstrate why they have recently assumed the role as the favorite Western-conference seed to reach the NBA finals and hopefully snatch the NBA championship title. It was French-seed Tony Parker who was able to lead the Spurs with 20 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists. According to Parker the team is simply driven by too much motivation and that although goals have been set high, so far they’ve been accomplished.

Despite their amazing and quite unexpected turn-out of events after leaving Oklahoma City on way, the Grizzlies were still not capable of sustaining a solid performance against the Spurs. It was NBA’s Defensive MVP honoree Marc Gasol who was able to lead the Grizzlies with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. According to Gasol the series just started and juts like it happened with Oklahoma, the Grizzlies will strive until the last match.

San Antonio currently holds the lead with a 1-0 record. The Grizzlies will now prepare to visit the Spurs once again at the AT&T Center in Texas this coming Tuesday, May 21st, for game 2.

NCAA: D. Stoudamire Returns To Arizona

The athletic administration department at the University of Arizona was able to confirm one of the most exhilarating rumors for the institution. In this case the University confirmed that one of their most outstanding Men Basketball star would be returning to Arizona.

The administration was referring to Damon Stoudemire, one of the most important players to have ever defended the Wildcats jersey. According to Head coach Sean Miller it’s simply going to be an honor to have Damon as an assistant coach under his wing.

Stoudamire played with Arizona from 1991-to-1995 and was able to pull a total of 101 victories with the Wildcats. In 1994 the 5-foot-10 star was able to make his first appearance at the Final four series and next season the outstanding point guard would unanimously become an All-American player of the year.

While playing with Arizona Stoudamire was able to score a total of 1,849 points and is still kni as the only player to have scored 40 points twice in one season. Damon is also a member of the Arizona Ring of Honor at the McKale Center.

In 1995 Stoudemire was placed as the 7th overall pick, snatched by the Toronto Raptors where he became the Rookie of the Year Award. For the next 13 NBA seasons Damon played with the Portland Blazers, the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies, and this retired during the 2007-08 season after accepting the position as director of player development at Rice University. According to Stoudamire himself it will be an honor to be back at Arizona and that he hopes to as well in the administrative facet as he did back when he was a Wildcat.

Knicks Outlast Pacers, Kevin Durant’s Season Insight

NBA: Knicks Outlast Pacers

The NYC local squad was finally able to shine in their great city and demonstrate that the series is still not over. In this case the New York Knicks were able to pull a solid 85-75 home victory over the Indiana Pacers this last Thursday, May 16^th, at Madison Square Garden in NYC.

The Knicks were finally able to rise over the Pacers to prove that they are still worthy rivals. It was Carmelo Anthony who once again led the Knicks with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Despite losing the MVP award, Carmelo continues to prove that he could have been easily considered as the MVP of the 2012-13 NBA season. According to Melo the series is not over and that the squad will most definitely strive to push for a 7^th game.

The Pacers were simply incapable of sustaining a strong NY squad. It was Paul George who led the Pacers with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. According to George himself the team simply lacked ambition to pull a strong defensive-offensive block transition. George stated that the squad will now prepare to close the series in teh 6^th match.

The series currently stands 3-2 in favor of Indiana. The Knicks will now prepare to visit the Pacers at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse this coming Saturday, May 18^th, for the 6^th game of the series.

NBA: K. Durant Claims That It was Not Bad Season

It’s surprising to hear recent positive comments regarding the season of one of the top seeds of the NBA which just a two days ago still remained with the hope of conquering an NBA championship title. In this case according to Kevin Durant, the Oklahoma City Thunder had their run and it wasn’t a particularly bad one.

According to the 32-year-old the Thunder had a very complicated season. Not only were they coming out of a lost NBA final, but they were trying to prove to themselves that it was and still is possible to pursue an NBA championship title.

All one has to do is check Durant’s stats that seem to justify his own willingness to pursue this tile. Even with physical injuries, Durant was able to average 28.8 points, 10.6 rebounds and 6.6 assists in only 46 minutes of game play. If someone had ever questioned Durant before considering these results then one needs to simply do it again.

On top of the pressure the Thunder felt under a slight injury phase starting with Russell Westbrook who was able to feat in several matches despite the severity of his injuries. Still, Durant claimed that these arguments do not justify the Thunder’s loss, which was to be kicked out of the playoffs so soon into them. Yet, according to the veteran star, there is still time to give Oklahoma fans their so desired NBA championship title.

Spurs Beat Warriors, Dirk Nowitizki’s Pay-Cut

NBA: Spurs Out-Shadow Warriors

The San Antonio Spurs were able to pull a solid victory this last Thursday, May 16^th, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland California. It was not an easy match considering the given Western conference semifinal series, yet the Spurs were able to outshine the Golden State Warriors with a 94-82 away victory to shut down the series.

The Spurs were simply on top of their game throughout the entire match, and one victory was all the team needed. It was Tim Duncan who was able to lead the Spurs with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. According to Tony Parker the match was not easy, but the Spurs were able to finally qualify to a conference final after being absent for a few seasons.

On the other hand the Warriors were simply not able to pull off a victory to push the series to a 7^th game. Stephen Curry was able to lead the Warriors with 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. Still, the Warriors gave it a try and were even able to pull to solid victories over one of the top seeds of the Western conference. According to Curry the team was simply not ready to outshine the Spurs, and San Antonio, without a doubt, deserved the victory due to their effort.

The series is finally over and in 6-games the Spurs were able to conclude with a 4-2 record. The Spurs will now prepare to face the Memphis Grizzlies at the Western conference finals.

NBA: D. Nowitizki’s Pay-Cut

The Dallas Mavericks continue to reflect upon their 2012-13 NBA season as they accommodate for changes that may drift the franchise into a successful path for the next. Yet, one of the recommendations, supported even by their very own involved superstar, was to cut his own salary and leave Dallas with some capital to spend for the next season.

In this case it was Dirk Nowitzki who one year before leading the Mavs into their first title signed an $80 million contract extension, when the veteran could have actually pushed for as high as $96 million. Still, according to Nowitzki, this was a personal choice he made.

The 34-year-old claimed that at the moment of signing the contract he realized that basketball at this late stage of every player is simply about playing well, and definitely not about the money, which is why he gave the Mavs what he referred to as a “discount” for their interest in him. One year later, the Mavs won their first franchise title.

Still, during his last year of contract, which is next year, Nowitzki will make a total of $22.7 million, the highest salary in the NBA just behind the Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant and one of the top 21 in the history of the NBA.

Grizzlies Outlast Thunder, Hecker Leaves Memphis

NBA: Grizzlies Outlast Thunder

Once again the Memphis Grizzlies continue to prove why odds, despite their ability to diminish and destroy credibility, are nothing more than mere statistical predictions that seem to not prove anything with given certainty. In this case the Grizzlies were able to pull a solid 88-84 away victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Energy Arena this last Wednesday, May 15^th, to shut down the series.

Memphis arrived to Oklahoma with a once in a playoffs chance; to be one victory away from leaving one of the top seeds of the league without a spot in the conference finals, and to earn that spot in the conference finals. And in this case Memphis accomplished the unthinkable. It was Zach Randolph who led the Grizzlies with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists last night. According to Randolph it’s incredible to be in the finals, but the team must now focus to reach the NBA finals, which is no mere fantasy anymore.

On the other hand, the Thunder was filled with an unbreakable air of disappointment. Reggie Jackson was able to lead the Thunder last night by finishing the match with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 9 rebounds. According to Kevin Durant the team was simply out of its tempo and not hungry enough to pull the victory.

The series between these two contenders is finally over, favoring the Grizzlies with a 4-1 record. Memphis will now wait for the winner between the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors.

NBA: AC B. Hecker’s Extended Absence from Grizzlies

Its definitely been a peculiar matter which presented itself during the last days, and remains floating on the air, unresolved, related to the first Western conference finalist. In this case Memphis Grizzlies assistant coach Barry Hecker has “unofficially” left the team, yet no specific reasons have yet clarified his departure.

Hecker was present during last week’s match, specifically game 2 of the semifinal series which ended in an away victory for the Grizzlies in Oklahoma City over the Thunder. Yet, Hecker was completely absent from last Saturday’s match in Memphis.

According to Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins, Hecker had to leave for personal matters, and nothing that needs to be revealed to the press, especially during such an important stage of the playoffs.

Yet it was team officials and superior authorities that finally admitted and thus confirmed Hecker’s definite exit from the team. In other words, Hecker is no longer with the Grizzlies nor will continue as part of the staff.

Hecker had remained in Hollins’ staff during the last five consecutive seasons. Before his breakthrough with the Grizzlies, Hecker also worked as a scout, as an assistant coach, and as a director of player personnel for other teams like the Los Angeles Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
