Strasburg Back from the DL

Stephen Strasburg was reinstated to Nationals after a 15-day period in the disabled list. The right-hander played Tuesday night against the Florida Marlins. The original decision to send him to the disabled list was taken on July 27 just before the game against Atlanta. Although undisclosed, later it was learned that Strasburg was scratched due to a mild inflammation in his pitching shoulder and arm which had caused the player trouble getting loose in the bullpen before the game. After consulting with catcher Ivan Rodriguez and pitching coach Steve McCatty, Strasburg was told to take a break and finally left the bullpen about 15 minutes before game time. NBA Schedule Highlights

Today, the NBA released the totality of Miami Heat’s schedule to the public. The Heat will open the season in Boston on October 26th, then play against Orlando and by the end of the year, face the Lakers in Los Angeles. The Heat will start its first extended stretch of home games on early November with a six-game homestand, including games against the Jazz, Celtics, Suns, and the Toronto Raptors on February 16th. The Heat has a total of 19 sets of back-to-back games on the schedule, just one more than last year's. The friendliest home schedules come in November and March, while the Heat finishes the season with six of nine on the road. Shaquille O'Neal, 38 years old and newly christened “Big Shamrock”, was introduced at a news conference on Tuesday to an audience of about dozen TV cameras, 50 reporters and a couple hundred schoolchildren in the bleachers, participating in a basketball camp at the Celtics' practice facility. The Toronto Raptors will play two games against the New Jersey Nets in London this next March 4th and 5th at the O2 arena. "This, to us, is really within the context of giving as much support as we can to the sport of basketball to the 2012 Olympics," said NBA commissioner David Stern. "The London Games are going to focus many current and prospective NBA and basketball fans on our sport."
