Cornerback Eric King leaves the Pride
The Detroit Lions have released backup cornerback Eric King, who was claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Browns on December 16th and was signed through the 2011 season. His base salary was set to the amount of $640,000.
None of the five cornerbacks that signed with the Lions for the coming season were drafted by the team.
Eric King signed with the Lions as an unrestricted free agent on February 28th, 2009, playing in the sixth season of the NFL after playing the previous three seasons with the Titans. King joined the Titans September 3, 2006 after being claimed off of waivers from the Bills. Last season King played in four games with one start before being placed on the injured reserve list October 12th, 2009. In 2007, King played in 15 games with one start and recorded six tackles, a tackle for loss and nine special teams’ stops before suffering a forearm injury on December 26th, 2007 and being placed on the injured reserve.
